Notes - Ultra rare player shirt believed to have been issued to or worn by Thompson during 1972-73. The Liverpool youngster had made just two appearances before he was selected as part of the Young Lions' 1972 UEFA European Under-18 Championship squad. He featured in all 5 of the side's matches at the tournament in Spain as they lifted the title beating West Germany in the Final 2-0. Thompson went on to win an impressive 42 senior caps in total for his country between 1976-82 and featured at two major international tournaments. At club level he was a Liverpool legend winning 7 top flight titles with the Reds as well as 3 European Cups during his time at Anfield before joining Sheffield United 1984.
