Extremely rare away shirt as worn in a season of two halves for the Sting. Malcolm Musgrove began the season as head coach but after ten games his side were still searching for their first win. Musgrove was quickly dismissed and replaced with Willy Roy who performed a miraculous turn around taking them from last place to 2nd in the table and securing a Play-Off place. Chicago were beaten by Tampa Bay Rowdies in the Play-Offs but still recieved huge plaudits for their attacking style of play and were even given the nickname Der Sting for the high influx of German players brought in this season.
