The 1991-92 campaign was a dramatic, one-season return to the top flight for Notts County, their first since 1984, which ended in heartbreak. Under the fiery guidance of manager Neil Warnock, The Magpies battled fiercely but finished 21st in the First Division, meaning they were relegated and cruelly missed out on a spot in the inaugural FA Premier League. Leading the charge was the prolific Tommy Johnson, whose 9 league goals proved crucial in a campaign built on grit and a respectable run to the Full Members Cup Semi-Finals. It remains a defining, painful chapter as the club's final appearance in the English elite.
