The 1992-93 campaign marked the turbulent dawn of the Premier League era for Liverpool, as The Reds ultimately secured a disappointing 6th-place finish under manager Graeme Souness and failed to secure European football for the following season. Leading the charge was the legendary striker Ian Rush, whose 14 league goals (and 22 overall) proved vital, and who achieved a momentous career milestone by surpassing Roger Hunt as the club's all-time record goalscorer. Despite an early exit from the Cup Winners' Cup, the year remains a transitional but defining chapter, notably featuring the debut seasons of future stars like goalkeeper David James and a young Jamie Redknapp.
