The youngster played the full 90 minutes in this one as Cesare Maldini's men ran out 2-0 winners thanks to second-half goals from Renato Buso and Gianluca Sordo. Italy would later lift the trophy, winning 2-1 on aggregate following a 1-0 loss in Sweden. Marcolin won 22 caps for the U21s and would go on to enjoy a successful spell at Lazio.
