The 1994-95 campaign was a glorious success for Die Fohlen, delivering major silverware by clinching the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) with a comprehensive 3-0 final victory over VfL Wolfsburg, securing a place in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. Domestically, the team secured a strong 5th-place finish in the Bundesliga, powered by the sensational form of striker Heiko Herrlich, whose 20 league goals saw him share the coveted Bundesliga Golden Boot. Led by manager Bernd Krauss and featuring stars like Stefan Effenberg and Martin Dahlin, this season remains a defining, successful chapter in the club's modern history.
