Notes

The 1995-96 campaign delivered a season of transition and moments of brilliance for Tottenham Hotspur, with Spurs finishing a respectable 8th in the Premier League under manager Gerry Francis. Despite the controversial summer sales of stars like Klinsmann and Popescu, the team was bolstered by the arrival of a club-record signing, Chris Armstrong, who quickly forged a lethal partnership with the talismanic forward Teddy Sheringham. Sheringham was the club's top scorer with 16 league goals (24 overall). The season's defining moment was a spectacular 4-1 New Year's Day victory over title-chasing Manchester United at White Hart Lane, a result that gave the faithful a brief, soaring hope of a UEFA Cup spot, although the club ultimately fell short.
