Notes

The 1996 Detroit Lions season was highlighted by the continued excellence of legendary running back Barry Sanders, who rushed for 1,553 yards and earned Pro Bowl honors. The team also saw standout performances from Pro Bowl wide receiver Herman Moore, and they achieved a dominant 27-0 shutout victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5. Although the team finished with a 5-11 record, these individual milestones and defensive highlights remained bright spots for the franchise. The third overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft and 2004 Hall of Fame inductee, Barry Sanders was a legendary running back for the Detroit Lions who earned 10 consecutive Pro Bowl selections and became the first player to rush for over 1,000 yards in 10 straight seasons.
