The former Sampdoria man was entering his fourth season at the San Siro and went on to make 49 appearances in all competitions. Luigi Simoni guided the side to a UEFA Cup final this campaign, beating Lazio 3-0 at the Parc des Princes. Pagliuca enjoyed a five-year spell with the Italian giants, making over 200 appearances before joining Bologna in 1999.
