Away shirt as worn when the side secured a League and FA Cup double under Arsène Wenger. 1997-98 saw the arrival of two key players in Dutch winger Marc Overmars and French midfielder Emmanuel Petit. Arsenal started the season well but a run of three defeats in four matches between November and December left the side languishing in 6th. Being as far behind as 12 points at the end of February it was almost unthinkable for the title to be heading to Highbury, however a 10 match winning streak to close out the season saw the Gunners pip Manchester United to the title. Wenger received the Manager of the Year accolade and star striker Dennis Bergkamp was voted PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year for his 16 league goals that helped fire Arsenal to the most unlikely of title successes
