The 1997 Seattle Mariners enjoyed a spectacular season, finishing first in the American League West with a 90-72 record and clinching their second division title. The team featured a historic offense that set a then-Major League record with 264 home runs, powered by Ken Griffey Jr.’s unanimous MVP campaign of 56 home runs and 147 RBI. The pitching staff was anchored by Randy Johnson, who became the first 20-game winner in franchise history, while Jamie Moyer and Jeff Fassero provided strong veteran leadership to round out a formidable rotation.
