Notes

The 1997-98 Vancouver Canucks season was a historic one as the team participated in the first-ever NHL regular season games played outside of North America, facing the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in Tokyo, Japan. The campaign was highlighted by the exceptional performance of Pavel Bure, who reached the 50-goal milestone for the third time in his career and led the team with 90 points. The roster also featured the arrival of legendary forward Mark Messier and the emergence of young talent like Mattias Ohlund, who finished second in Calder Trophy voting. Although the team underwent significant coaching and management changes, they displayed a resilient offensive spirit, leading the league with 19 short-handed goals. The 1998-99 Vancouver Canucks season was a period of transition that saw the emergence of Markus Naslund as a premier offensive force, leading the team with 36 goals and 66 points. While the team faced challenges in the standings, the season was highlighted by several bright spots, including the record-breaking 23 goals from defenseman Adrian Aucoin and a league-leading 17 short-handed goals. The campaign also laid the groundwork for future success by securing the second and third overall picks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, which allowed the franchise to select legendary twins Daniel and Henrik Sedin.
