The 1997 Chicago Cubs season was highlighted by several strong individual performances, including Sammy Sosa's 36 home runs and Mark Grace leading the team with 177 hits. Despite a challenging start, the team celebrated a historic moment on June 16 by winning the first-ever regular season interleague game against the Chicago White Sox. The season also served as a memorable farewell for legendary broadcaster Harry Caray in his final year in the booth.
