Notes

The 1998-99 campaign delivered an unexpected Scudetto for AC Milan in their centenary year, as the Rossoneri clinched the Serie A title with an incredible late-season surge. Under new manager Alberto Zaccheroni, German striker Oliver Bierhoff's league-leading 20 goals, including a record 15 headers, proved decisive. The title was dramatically won on the final day after a perfect run of seven straight victories, snatching the Scudetto from rivals Lazio and marking a triumphant return to glory for a side featuring the legendary Paolo Maldini.. The 1999-00 campaign, marking AC Milan's centenary season, saw the defending Scudetto champions, Rossoneri, finish 3rd in Serie A, securing a spot in the Champions League qualifying rounds. The season was instantly defined by the sensational arrival of a new star, Andriy Shevchenko, whose prolific 24 goals in his debut season earned him the Capocannoniere title. Anchored by the ever-present legend Paolo Maldini, the campaign was a transitional one, yet Shevchenko's immediate success and the arrival of other future stars like Gennaro Gattuso cemented this as a pivotal year that ushered in the next golden era for the club.
