Notes

The 1998-99 campaign delivered a strong, competitive season for Monaco as Les Monegasques secured a respectable 4th-place finish in Division 1, narrowly missing out on the top three. Spearheading the attack was the explosive young striker David Trezeguet, whose 12 crucial league goals, alongside eight from Ludovic Giuly, proved vital in a campaign built on consistency and an exciting core of youth and experience, including World Cup winner Fabien Barthez in goal. It was a solid year that maintained the club's status as an elite French side and laid the groundwork for their title-winning season that followed.. The 1999-00 campaign delivered a triumphant league victory for AS Monaco as Les Monegasques clinched the Division 1 title under the astute guidance of manager Claude Puel, finishing seven points clear of rivals Paris Saint-Germain. Spearheading the spectacular attack was the prolific young forward David Trezeguet, whose 22 goals in the league proved decisive, supported by the veteran class of Marco Simone who finished as the club's overall top scorer. With a dynamic, star-studded squad featuring future legends like Fabien Barthez, Marcelo Gallardo, and a young Rafa Márquez, it was a golden year built on attacking flair and a return to the summit of French football, marking a defining chapter in the club's modern history.
