Notes

The 1998 New York Jets enjoyed a historic season under head coach Bill Parcells, finishing with a franchise-best 12-4 record and clinching their first AFC East title since the 1970 merger. Led by Pro Bowlers Vinny Testaverde, who threw 29 touchdowns, and Curtis Martin, who rushed for nearly 1,300 yards, the team orchestrated a remarkable turnaround from their 1-15 finish just two years prior. The Jets' dominant campaign included their first-ever playoff bye and a 34-24 Divisional round victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, ultimately concluding with a hard-fought appearance in the AFC Championship game. The 1999 New York Jets demonstrated remarkable resilience, finishing with an 8-8 record despite losing starting quarterback Vinny Testaverde to a season-ending injury in the opening game. Under head coach Bill Parcells, the team rallied from a 1-6 start to win seven of their final nine games, including a season-ending four-game winning streak. The season was highlighted by the emergence of quarterback Ray Lucas and standout performances from Pro Bowlers Keyshawn Johnson, Curtis Martin, and Kevin Mawae. A 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and five-time Pro Bowler, Curtis Martin was a legendary running back who retired as the fourth-leading rusher in NFL history after a stellar 11-season career with the New England Patriots and New York Jets.
