Strelec played the full match as Dukla were thrashed 6-1 in the 1st leg in Amsterdam after taking a shock early lead through a Frank Verlaat own goal. In the return fixture at the Stiavnicky Stadion the side again took the lead but this time were dispatched 3-1 by the Dutch giants. The Slovakian outfit from the town of Banská Bystrica had qualified for the competition after reaching the Slovenský Pohár Final in 1999 and have one national league title to their name back in 82-83
