The 1999-00 campaign was a triumphant return to the top flight for Hellas Verona as the Gialloblu, freshly promoted, surged to a respectable 9th-place finish in Serie A. The season was defined by a crucial unbeaten run from February that secured their survival and was built on the excitement of emerging talent. Leading the charge was centre-forward Fabrizio Cammarata, whose 9 goals proved decisive, including a memorable two-goal performance in the shock 2-0 victory over title-contenders Juventus. This pivotal year, featuring the sensational young goalkeeper Sebastien Frey (voted the best player of the season by Guerin Sportivo), firmly re-established the club's status in the elite.
