Notes

The 1999-00 campaign was a season of dramatic, mid-season redemption for Newcastle United as The Magpies eventually secured an 11th-place finish in the Premier League. The year began in crisis, with the early resignation of manager Ruud Gullit following a humiliating derby defeat, but the arrival of the beloved Sir Bobby Robson immediately revitalised the team. Leading the charge was the legendary striker Alan Shearer, whose 23 league goals proved crucial, including a historic five-goal haul in Robson's first home game, an 8-0 demolition of Sheffield Wednesday. This resurgence saw the team also reach the FA Cup Semi-finals and the UEFA Cup Third Round, marking a triumphant period of restored pride and attacking football.
