The 2000-01 campaign delivered a vital season of resurgence for Bordeaux, as Les Girondins finished a strong 4th in Division 1, securing a coveted UEFA Cup spot and re-establishing themselves among the French elite. Leading the charge was the prolific Portuguese striker Pauleta, whose 20 goals earned him the Golden Boot and proved decisive in a campaign built on attacking flair and a memorable late-season push. It was a standout year that marked the true emergence of a club legend and remains a defining chapter in the history of Les Girondins.
