Notes

The 2000-01 campaign was a season of immense disappointment and transition for Rangers as The Gers, despite being the defending champions and massive investment under manager Dick Advocaat, finished a distant 2nd in the Scottish Premier League behind a treble-winning Celtic side. The year was defined by the shocking, British-record £12 million arrival of Norwegian striker Tore André Flo in November, who scored on his debut in a thrilling 5-1 Old Firm victory. Flo would finish with 11 league goals, but the heavy spending ultimately yielded no trophies, with The Gers losing the League Cup semi-final to their rivals and crashing out of the Scottish Cup. It remains a painful, yet memorable chapter marked by the sheer ambition of Flo's signing and the disappointment of being emphatically dethroned by their Old Firm opponents.
