Notes

The 2000-01 campaign was a tumultuous season of high drama and critical transition for Barcelona, as the Blaugrana ultimately secured a crucial 4th-place finish in La Liga and Champions League qualification. Leading the charge was the Brazilian talisman Rivaldo, whose 23 league goals included one of the most iconic moments in club history: a last-gasp, overhead bicycle kick against Valencia on the final day to snatch the final European spot. This dramatic climax, which also saw a young Xavi emerging in midfield and a mid-season managerial change, was a season defined by individual brilliance and a tense, unforgettable fight for European survival.. The 2001-02 campaign was a season of stark contrast for Barcelona. Domestically, the Blaugrana endured a mediocre run, finishing 4th in La Liga and securing a Champions League qualifying spot, but their European form was spectacular as they charged to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they were ultimately eliminated by fierce rivals Real Madrid. Leading the attack was Patrick Kluivert, whose 18 La Liga goals proved vital, with the squad also featuring the emerging talent of a young Xavi. It was a turbulent, transitional year under Carles Rexach that marked the emotional farewells of club veterans like Rivaldo and Sergi Barjuán.
