Notes

In the 2000 MLS season, the Sporting Kansas City franchise, then known as the Kansas City Wizards, enjoyed a historic campaign under head coach Bob Gansler. The team won the MLS Supporters' Shield after finishing first overall in the regular season with 57 points and an MLS-record 16 shutouts. They advanced through the playoffs to reach the MLS Cup, where they defeated the Chicago Fire 1-0 to secure their first league title and complete a domestic double. Star goalkeeper Tony Meola was named league MVP, Goalkeeper of the Year, and MLS Cup MVP for his stellar performances.. In the 2001 Major League Soccer season, the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City) finished 3rd in the Western Division and 7th overall with an 11-13-3 record, totaling 36 points. Coached by Bob Gansler, the team's regular season was cut short due to the September 11 terrorist attacks. Offensively, the Wizards scored 33 goals and conceded 53, with forward Roy Lassiter leading the attack as the top scorer with 7 league goals. They qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs but were eliminated in the quarterfinals, finishing with a postseason mark of 1-2.
