The 2000-01 Detroit Pistons season was a foundational year for the franchise as Pistons legend Joe Dumars took over as General Manager and began assembling the core for their future championship run. The season was highlighted by the exceptional individual performance of Jerry Stackhouse, who finished second in the league in scoring with an impressive 29.8 points per game and earned an All-Star selection. While the team finished with a 32-50 record, the arrival of defensive standout Ben Wallace and the mid-season acquisition of Corliss Williamson provided a glimpse into the tough, grit-focused identity that would soon define the "Goin' to Work" era. A four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and 2004 NBA champion, Ben Wallace was a legendary undrafted center for the Detroit Pistons known for his elite rebounding, shot-blocking, and Hall of Fame defensive presence.
