The 2001-02 campaign was a season of domestic cup glory and managerial transition for Rangers as The Gers finished a competitive 2nd in the Scottish Premier League. Despite losing ground in the league under Dick Advocaat, the mid-season arrival of Alex McLeish revitalized the team, leading them to a spectacular domestic double. McLeish guided the side to victory in the Scottish League Cup Final with a 4-0 win over Ayr United and, most memorably, clinched the Scottish Cup in a dramatic 3-2 final victory over rivals Celtic, sealed by a last-minute Peter Løvenkrands goal.
