The 2002-03 campaign was a vital success for Empoli, with the Azzurri securing a respectable 13th-place finish in Serie A to secure their top-flight status. Leading the charge was the emerging star Antonio Di Natale, whose prolific 13 league goals proved crucial, highlighted by his memorable hat-trick in the thrilling 4-2 victory over Reggina. Under manager Silvio Baldini, the team also enjoyed a strong domestic cup run, reaching the Quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. It was a season of consolidation for Empoli and a defining breakout year that foreshadowed Di Natale's legendary career.
