Notes

Home shirt as worn when financial difficulties off the field hindered the club, leading to a 15th place finish in the Premiership. A lot was expected of manager Terry Venables due to his previous success with Tottenham and Barcelona. However, financial problems at the club meant star players Rio Ferdinand and Robbie Keane were sold before the start of the season. Despite losing key players, Leeds started well with back to back wins over Newcastle and Manchester United put the side top of the table after 6 games. However, things would soon change, due to the crippling debt at the club, Venables was forced to sell more established players in Lee Bowyer, Olivier Dacourt, Danny Mills, Jonathan Woodgate and striker Robbie Fowler. The constant sales of star players grew too much for Terry Venables, who quit the club, replaced by former Manchester City and Sunderland boss Peter Reid. Reid managed to stop the run of bad form and save Leeds from relegation, however, just days after the end of the season, Harry Kewell was sold, indicating to the Leeds faithful that the hard times were not over
