The 2002 season was a historic one for the Raiders, then based in Oakland, as they captured the AFC Championship and advanced to Super Bowl XXXVII. Led by NFL MVP quarterback Rich Gannon and legendary receivers Jerry Rice and Tim Brown, the team finished with an 11-5 record and secured the top seed in the AFC. Under first-year head coach Bill Callahan, the Raiders featured the league's top-ranked offense and a formidable defense, punctuating their successful campaign with dominant playoff victories over the Jets and Titans.
