The 2002-03 New Jersey Nets enjoyed a stellar season, finishing first in the Atlantic Division with a 49-33 record and securing the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Led by the exceptional playmaking of All-Star Jason Kidd and the scoring of Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson, the team demonstrated dominant postseason form by sweeping both the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons to capture their second consecutive Eastern Conference Championship. Although they narrowly missed the title in a hard-fought six-game series against the San Antonio Spurs, the season remains a landmark achievement in franchise history. The 13th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, Richard Jefferson was an explosive small forward and key cornerstone for the New Jersey Nets who helped lead the franchise to consecutive NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003.
