The 2003-04 campaign was a season of soaring ambition and agonizing near-miss for Bristol City. The Robins finished a strong 3rd in the Second Division, narrowly missing automatic promotion by one point, despite achieving a post-war club record 11 successive league wins. Spearheading the attack was Lee Peacock with 14 crucial league goals. After a dramatic play-off semi-final victory secured by a late Christian Roberts strike, the season ended in heartbreak with a 1-0 final defeat to rivals Brighton & Hove Albion at the Millennium Stadium.
