The 2003-04 campaign was a tumultuous season for Delfini in a notoriously chaotic Serie B that had been expanded to a record 24 teams due to the infamous "Caso Catania" crisis. Newly promoted Pescara, despite the team's struggles, saw a stunning individual performance from young centre-forward Emanuele Calaiò, whose career-best 21 goals were a dazzling highlight. Finishing in a dangerous 22nd position with only 46 points, Pescara was ultimately spared from a direct return to Serie C thanks to the league's unprecedented political turmoil and subsequent restructuring, marking this desperate fight for survival as a chaotic and unforgettable chapter in the club's history.
