The 2003-04 campaign was a season of turbulent consolidation for Peterborough United, with The Posh securing an 18th-place finish in the old Second Division under manager Barry Fry. The year was primarily defined by the mid-season departure of talismanic striker Leon McKenzie, who, despite grabbing 10 crucial goals, was transferred to Norwich City in December 2003. This departure left a significant void, but the team ultimately managed to retain their status in what would be the final season before the division was rebranded as League One.
