The 2004-05 campaign delivered a historic debut season for Getafe as Azulones, led by manager Quique Sánchez Flores, secured their La Liga status with a crucial 13th-place finish, becoming the only promoted side to avoid relegation. After a poor start, the team staged a remarkable fight for survival, highlighted by memorable home victories, including a famous 2-0 win over Real Madrid. Leading the charge were joint top-scorers Míchel and Sergio Pachón, whose 5 goals each proved decisive, with Pachón notably scoring the club's first-ever top-flight hat-trick. It was a defining year that laid the foundation for their extended spell in the elite.
