Player - Aggressive tough tackling and controversial left-back Ben Thatcher #3
Features
Notes - Very rare player shirt believed to have been worn by Thatcher for the 2006 World Cup Qualifying UEFA Group 6 match against Poland, played at The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 13th October 2004. The Dragons were yet to win a match in qualifying whereas Poland had already beaten Northern Ireland and Austria. Robert Earnshaw gave the hosts the lead in this one though and the side looked to be in control until late on in the second half. Tomasz Frankowski found the equaliser for the Poles on 72 minutes and Wales then conceded twice in 5 minutes as Pawe? Janas' side completely turned the tables. John Hartons' stoppage time header was to be only a consolation in the end, final score 3-2. Thatcher played the full match, the left-back had previously starred for the England under-21 side but earned his first cap for Wales this year. The former Tottenham and Leicester man made 7 appearances in total for The Dragons as they finished a disappointing 5th in Group 6 in qualification for Germany 2006.
