The 2005-06 campaign was a dramatic fight for survival for Cagliari as Casteddu battled through a tumultuous season with four different managers. Spearheading the team was the Honduran "Panther," David Suazo, whose sensational, club-record 22 goals in Serie A proved decisive in securing a crucial 14th-place finish. His phenomenal individual performance, which earned him the Serie A Foreign Footballer of the Year award (shared with Kaká), remains a powerful and defining chapter in the club's modern history.
