Notes

The 2005 New York Jets season was highlighted by the exceptional performance of veteran cornerback Ty Law, who led the NFL with a career-high 10 interceptions and earned Pro Bowl honors alongside linebacker Jonathan Vilma. Despite a challenging 4-12 record heavily impacted by injuries to key quarterbacks, the team remained competitive in many contests and concluded the season on a high note with a thrilling 30-26 victory over the Buffalo Bills. The 2006 New York Jets enjoyed a resurgent and surprising season under rookie head coach Eric Mangini, finishing with a 10-6 record and securing a wild-card playoff berth. Defying low preseason expectations, the team was led by Comeback Player of the Year Chad Pennington and a standout rookie class featuring Nick Mangold and D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Highlights included winning five of their final six games and a memorable 17-14 road victory over the New England Patriots. The 18th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, Chad Pennington was a highly accurate quarterback for the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins who became the only player in league history to be named NFL Comeback Player of the Year twice.
