Notes

The 2005-06 campaign delivered a tumultuous season that was ultimately defined by a historic European run, as The Gers became the first Scottish club to reach the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, following a dramatic 1-1 draw with Inter Milan. Domestically, the team finished a disappointing 3rd in the Scottish Premier League after a challenging start which included a ten-game winless run, signaling the end of manager Alex McLeish's tenure. The arrival of prolific striker Kris Boyd from Kilmarnock in January proved vital for the second half of the campaign, with his 17 league goals for the club securing a UEFA Cup spot and giving McLeish a winning send-off in the final game. It was a chaotic, unforgettable year that saw Rangers reach an unprecedented European height while signaling a major change of leadership at Ibrox.
