Notes

In 2005, the Washington franchise (then the Redskins) enjoyed a resurgent season under legendary head coach Joe Gibbs, finishing with a 10-6 record and securing their first playoff berth since 1999. The year was highlighted by a high-powered offense featuring record-setting performances from receiver Santana Moss and running back Clinton Portis, as well as a top-ten defense that helped the team win their final five regular-season games to clinch a wild-card victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 2006 season for the Washington franchise, then known as the Redskins, was highlighted by a top-ranked rushing attack that finished 4th in the NFL, led by Ladell Betts' 1,154 yards. Despite a 5-11 finish, the team showcased resilience with thrilling victories, including an overtime win against the Jaguars and a dramatic 22-19 triumph over the rival Dallas Cowboys. The season also featured standout individual performances from Pro Bowlers Chris Samuels and Sean Taylor, as well as the emergence of second-round pick Rocky McIntosh.
