After nearly 450 senior appearances and over 180 goals, prolific Italian striker Vincenzo "Aeroplanino" Montella signed for Fulham on loan, in January 2007 from his beloved AS Roma. Given the #11 shirt, he hit the ground running at the ripe old age of 33, scoring a brace on his home debut against Leicester in the FA Cup. After scoring a few more goals in the cup and the Premier League, he quickly became a fan favourite at Cravern Cottage, but he hardly started under Chris Coleman. This never improved as newly appointed Northern Irish manager Lawrie Sanchez only gave Montella two starts for the rest of the season. After 15 appearances and 6 goals, Vincenzo's loan was terminated, and he returned to Rome.
