Notes

The 2006-07 campaign for Sheffield Wednesday was a season of dramatic mid-table resurgence in the Championship. Following the early-season sacking of Paul Sturrock, the appointment of Brian Laws steered The Owls to a respectable 9th-place finish. This impressive recovery effort left them agonizingly short of the play-off spots by just four points, keeping promotion hopes alive until the penultimate game. Spearheading the attack were the joint top-scorers Deon Burton and Steven MacLean, whose 12 crucial goals each proved vital in a season defined by a strong second-half run and the enduring ambition of the Hillsborough faithful.
