Notes

The 2006-07 campaign delivered a devastating end for Borussia Mönchengladbach as Die Fohlen finished a crushing 18th in the Bundesliga, resulting in a painful relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. The season was characterized by immense turmoil and instability, featuring multiple managerial changes from Horst Köppel to Jupp Heynckes, and eventually Jos Luhukay, none of whom could arrest the slide. Leading the line, despite the severe lack of attacking output across the squad, were the joint top scorers, the Brazilian forward Kahê and veteran German international Oliver Neuville, who each managed just 4 goals. This turbulent year, which culminated in a return to the second tier of German football, remains an unforgettable chapter that marked a true low point in the club's modern history.. The 2007-08 campaign delivered a powerful and triumphant resurgence for Borussia Mönchengladbach, with Die Fohlen clinching the 2. Bundesliga title and securing immediate promotion back to the top flight after just one season away. Leading the charge was the prolific Canadian centre-forward Rob Friend, whose career-best 18 goals proved decisive in a campaign built on attacking excellence and consistency under manager Jos Luhukay. The team, featuring veteran Oliver Neuville who netted 15 goals and the creative spark of Marcel Ndjeng, secured their glorious return to the Bundesliga and remains a cherished chapter in the club's history of bouncing back.
