Brighton & Hove Albion’s 2006–07 season was a turbulent period of transition, defined by severe financial constraints and a 18th-place finish in League One. Following a poor start, long-serving manager Mark McGhee was replaced in September by Dean Wilkins, who successfully stabilized the team and avoided relegation. Due to the high financial drain of playing at the temporary Withdean Stadium, the club could not afford expensive signings and relied heavily on a talented crop of academy graduates like Dean Cox and Tommy Elphick. Despite the struggles on the pitch, this difficult campaign laid the foundational youth-centric identity that helped steady the club during its challenging pre-Amex Stadium era.
