Notes

The 2006-08 period saw the arrival of Michael Ballack as a commanding force in Chelsea’s midfield, where his physical presence and world-class leadership helped the club secure a historic domestic cup double in his debut season. This era was defined by his big-game temperament, most notably his match-winning brace against Manchester United in 2008 and his clinical extra-time winner against Blackburn Rovers to seal a place in the FA Cup final. Despite battling injury, the German captain’s technical grace and tireless work ethic remained a vital component of the side’s engine room, culminating in an inspirational run to the club's first-ever Champions League final.
