Notes
The 2006-08 period marked a poignant final chapter for the legendary Hidetoshi Nakata, who served as the creative heartbeat of the Japanese national team during his third consecutive World Cup. His enduring class was most famously epitomized by his Man of the Match performance against Croatia, where his world-class vision and technical mastery showcased his status as a true global icon. Despite Japan's challenging group stage, Nakata’s tireless leadership and elegance on the ball provided a nostalgic farewell for a trailblazer who forever changed the perception of Asian football on the world stage.
