The 2007-08 campaign was a season of dramatic peaks and troughs for Hibernian. The Hibees exploded out of the gate with a spectacular ten-game unbeaten run, which saw them upset both Celtic and Rangers and briefly top the Scottish Premier League table. After a mid-season slump led to the shock resignation of John Collins, new manager Mixu Paatelainen steered the side to a respectable 6th-place finish and a coveted Intertoto Cup spot. Leading the charge through the turbulence was the emerging young striker Steven Fletcher, whose 14 goals proved his breakout season, culminating in him being named SFWA Young Player of the Year. It was a memorable year that marked the emergence of a future Scottish star.
