Notes

The 2007-08 campaign was a season of devastating disappointment for 1. FC Nürnberg, as Der Club, having started the year as German Cup holders, spectacularly slumped to a 16th-place finish in the Bundesliga and were automatically relegated. The year was tumultuous, featuring the mid-season sacking of beloved manager Hans Meyer, but it was also defined by a memorable UEFA Cup run where they advanced from a group that included eventual winners Zenit Saint Petersburg before losing in the Round of 32. Emerging as the brightest star was Zvjezdan Misimović, whose career-best 10 goals proved vital, but his form was not enough to save the team, and he would earn a transfer to VfL Wolfsburg immediately following the club's painful drop to the second tier.
