However the Reds were no match for Melbourne Victory, losing 6-0 on aggregate in the Semi-Finals. Vidmar's side did manage to win the Preliminary Final against Queensland Roar 1-0 to meet Melbourne Victory again in the Grand Final, but a Tom Pondeljak goal was enough to take the title to Melbourne.
