The 2008-09 campaign delivered a stunning title victory for Bordeaux as Les Girondins clinched their sixth Ligue 1 trophy, dramatically ending Lyon's seven-year dominance. Leading the charge was the prolific strike duo of Fernando Cavenaghi and Marouane Chamakh, who both notched 13 goals in a campaign brilliantly orchestrated by the Ligue 1 Player of the Year, Yoann Gourcuff. The title was clinched on the final day after a club-record 11-game winning streak under manager Laurent Blanc. It was a golden year that marked a spectacular return to glory and remains a defining, iconic chapter in Les Girondins' modern history.
