The 2008-09 campaign delivered domestic silverware for Celtic as The Bhoys clinched the Scottish League Cup, despite agonisingly finishing 2nd in the Scottish Premier League after a dramatic final-day title race. Leading the charge was the prolific Australian striker Scott McDonald, whose 16 league goals proved crucial in a season built on a fierce rivalry and a run to the cup final. It was a year of high drama under manager Gordon Strachan that remains a memorable, albeit bittersweet, chapter in the club's modern history.
