Notes

The 2008-09 campaign delivered a dramatic and memorable Serie A survival for Chievo Verona as the Gialloblu clung to their top-flight status, finishing a crucial 16th. After a disastrous start that saw the team bottom of the table with only nine points at the halfway mark, the mid-season arrival of manager Domenico Di Carlo sparked a remarkable resurgence. Anchoring this desperate fight was the club captain and hero Sergio Pellissier, whose 13 league goals, including a heroic late equalizer to complete his first career hat-trick in a thrilling 3-3 draw away against Juventus, proved decisive in leading the team out of the drop zone. The successful battle against relegation, which secured their status on the penultimate matchday, remains a defining chapter of grit and resilience in the club's history.
